Thanks for sharing this. Hopefully I’ll get to developing an approach like this in the future with my work, if only I could educate clients that this kind of development is preferred over the “get it all done at once and you’re done” approach.

Hi Vivienne,

Whilst designers do work in similar ways I also think that each designer has their own way of approaching a problem.

For example, some designers that I know would much rather jump straight into Photoshop, foregoing the sketching and thinking, and seemingly using the look and feel as a way of exclusively generating ideas. Obviously we don’t feel that this is the right approach.

However, we’re not worried about sharing our techniques and processes with a wider audience. Partially because talking about it here is a good way of people seeing how we work (and just as importantly whether they want to work with us). But also because designers are more than just a methodology. They’re the sum of their experiences and the clients they’ve worked with. It’s this combination that helps bring great value to our clients – and that definitely can’t be copied.

Another interesting read from Isaac. However, don’t you worry that people will copy how you work? Although, I guess designers work in similar ways.
