for LOVEFiLM

Building out new social features for one of the UK's most successful and growing online entertainment destinations.

LOVEFiLM is one of the UK’s most successful online businesses, with 1.2 million active users and 50,000 new members every month.

Made by Many were retained to ‘socialise’ the service and redesign the site incrementally from the inside out.

We work closely with LOVEFiLM’s product development team to deliver new features and areas of the site.

Some of these – such as the product pages, video on demand and cinema listings – have gone live and there is a pipeline of exciting new releases to come.

Workshop

Most projects for LOVEFiLM involve stakeholders from different parts of the business, and often from across the five countries LOVEFiLM operates in. Knowing how and when to involve these stakeholders is often crucial to keeping a project on time, on budget and within the brief.

Working in a very visual and interactive way, Made by Many run client workshops at key stages of the project in an environment where collaboration and decision making can actively happen. These timely sessions help keep the stakeholders engaged and, as their requirements have been clearly heard, allow responsibilty for detailed decisions to be made by the product owner.

We often work with clients in a rapid and iterative style. LOVEFiLM is no exception.

Sketching allows us the ability and freedom to visualise ideas quickly, and if necessary, fail fast. As our thinking progresses, detail is added in stages through colour block diagrams, wireframes and finally onto production designs.

Seen here are a variety of initial concept screens and some finished designs, including the magazine, rental lists, video on demand player and cinema listings.
